Diavolo VS Overhaul (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure VS My Hero Academia)

“Those who play with the Devil's toys will be brought by degrees to wield his sword.” - R. Buckminister Fuller

Diavolo, the leader of Passione, who wanted to erase his existence from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure

Overhaul, the leader of the Shie Hassaikai, who aimed to erase the Quirks of My Hero Academia

Everyone on this earth has the capacity to create, and to make something good. But there are some who can not see the good, so they wish to turn creation on its head and erase all that there is. Today, we pit two of the nastiest crime bosses out there in a duel to the finish, where only one will be erased, and only one will come out victorious.

Yap, yap, yap, so come along to Saul’s VS blog to find out who would win a DEATH BATTLE!!!!

Before We Go Anywhere…

Both Diavolo and Overhaul will get their standard original story in the Manga, their anime adaptations, and other guidebooks or spin-offs pertaining to the series.

Background

Diavolo

“I am a king! My only goal is to remain at the top! If I flee now, my pride will be lost! There is… no next time!”

Impossibility? Do you believe in that? To hide oneself is to free the mind, a word that rings true with the crime boss, no, crime LORD of one of the biggest Italian Mafia groups of all time, a man determined to erase himself from the world no matter what it took, a guy by the name of Diavolo. Born to a woman in prison under unknown circumstances, not crying, not thinking, only observing, he would be KING! Although a majority of Diavolo’s background is left unknown (just like he intended it to be), it doesn’t save us, the reader, from learning only a few of the many despicable crimes he’s committed in his past. Unfortunately for everyone around him, he only came off as a timid, yet candid, child that had wanted to be a sailor rather than a priest like his foster father wanted to be.

He would eventually meet the love of his life and gain the respect of the old priest he lived under, enough to earn him a car and a handmade garage to go with it. But on that fateful night, the priest would make an unsettling discovery as he finds Diavolo’s mother, who was presumed to be dead, buried alive under all the dirt with her mouth sewn shut. It wasn’t long before a fire would break out that would engulf the entire town, taking the lives of every resident there including Diavolo. Well, at least that’s what he wanted everyone to think. In truth, he had run off to Egypt and accidentally found six special arrowheads that could awaken the innate spiritual power residing within your average human, aka a STAND.

Presumably slashing himself to awaken his own stand (more on that later), he would eventually return to Italy to create the ultimate mafia group of Italy known as Passione. The group would quickly rise in power as they eliminated the other mafia groups of Italy, secretly sell drugs out on the streets while pretending to be an equitable system of Italy, and power up their henchmen using those same stand arrows that Diavolo had found. Even when the likes of Polanreff, a former Stardust Crusader, investigates Italy after noticing its crime rate increasing by 20 fold, he’d be unstoppable against the likes of Diavolo. After all, Diavolo had vowed to forever stay hidden with all his past ties cut, no matter how many lives he had to take, and this was especially clear when he had created a plan to kill his secret daughter Trish.

He decided to give Team Bucciarati, a squad within the larger organization of Passione, a single mission. A mission to deliver Trish to him no matter how many enemies stood in their way. This would ultimately, as expected, result in a sort of betrayal on Bucciarati’s end as Trish would be stolen from him before his very own eyes and almost die trying to save her from Diavolo’s grasp. Bruno would ultimately get away with Trish as Diavolo had trouble handling multiple stand users at once but his rampage would continue as he picked off the traitors one by one (and Risotto is there too I guess). He now had seeked a new goal, a pathway to ultimate power via a rare kind of special stan arrowhead known as the Requiem arrow. There would be a back and forth between the person who held onto this arrowhead but Giorno would eventually get ahold of it and strike himself with this arrowhead, giving him the power needed to bypass King Crimson’s ability and end Diavolo’s reign once and for all. Now stuck in a literal infinite loop of death for the rest of his days, it seems like Diavolo has skipped past one too many of his sins.

Overhaul

“You’re all blinded by some outdated sense of what's right. You're just pretending to be heroes! I WON'T LET YOU STAND IN MY WAY!!!!!”

Life. Death. Good. Evil. These are fundamental aspects of reality that can not be ignored. In the reality of My Hero Academia however, nearly everyone on the face of the Earth had “evolved” to bear a Quirk. These Quirks are biological mutations that give roughly 80% of the population a special gift; a superpower to use however they wish. While most did indeed view this as a gift for good, some viewed it as a curse of death, and an unnatural plague that needed to be quelled. To this end, one man rose from the ashes of mediocrity with the greatest of crime family's at his back, all to erase Quirks from society. He was once Kai Chisaki, but he would prefer the name of that which he aimed to do to society itself; Overhaul.

Decades ago, Chisaki was a nameless child, raised in an orphanage for the Demon King of the underworld; All For One. This legend among evildoers wanted a successor, and thus found several children he deemed worthy to cultivate their potential so that he might benefit in the future. After getting the necessary Quirk traits from Chisaki, the boy was then adopted by the head of the Shie Hassaiki, otherwise known as Yakuza. Feeling he owed a great debt to his new father, Kai became a Yakuza himself, but his violent outlook clashed with the honor they upheld. Chisaki had grown up believing Quirks were an unnatural disease of humanity, in no small part thanks to theories like Quirk Singularity, and for years had dreamt of a way to remove them from existence. He eventually found a way, through the young granddaughter of his boss, Eri.

This young girl had the ability to rewind anything she touched however much she desired, and once Chisaki found out about this, his dreams could finally come to fruition, and Overhaul was born. He used his Quirk, which could manipulate matter itself for any purpose, to place his boss in a coma, and to play God by ripping Eri apart, then putting her back together in a cycle of pain and torment that broke her psyche. All of this was to harness her ability to revert, and eventually, this put him in contact with the League of Villains, as well as the aspiring heroes Deku and Lemillion. After a shaky alliance with the League's leader Shigaraki, Overhaul was invaded by an army of heroes at his doorstep; intent on ending his experiments and rescuing Eri. In this battle, he had to ward off both Lemillion and Deku, who fought like hell to see Eri saved. Despite his efforts, Deku eventually overcame his might, and sent the Yakuza to jail with his plans failed.

However, Overhaul did not get off that easy. Shigaraki intercepted him, and like the petulant child he was, destroyed both of his arms, preventing the usage of his Quirk. Now with nothing left but a shattered ego and a lifetime in prison, all Chisaki wanted was to repent, and to see the boss that he wronged. After the current war was over, he was allowed that chance, but his father was disgusted with what he had become. He aimed to bar him from interacting with Eri entirely so she would forget he existed, and to punish Chisaki for all his sins until the Devil came to drag his soul to Hell. We have no idea if he will ever repent, or if he even wants to, but one thing is for sure. As long as he may stand, Overhaul will fight to the bitter end to erase the plague of Quirks, by becoming an even bigger plague all on his own.

Experience

Diavolo

Being the boss of the biggest mafia group in all of Italy, Diavolo’s got tons of experience up his crimson sleeves. He was successful in erasing a majority of his past through illegal means, which includes burning an entire town of people while getting away with it, and managed to keep his identity hidden for at least 10 years straight. It’s impressive when you consider the fact that he was also watching everyone within Passione from a distance and making sure that none of them ever got close to him.

From what we’ve seen in the events of Golden Wind, he was able to manipulate Bruno and his team into following his very specific orders, and when they ultimately betrayed him, he had already figured out that Giorno, the newest member of Bruno’s team, had planned to betray him ever since he joined the group. Combat wise, he always came out on top no matter who attempted to come to blows with him. He could utterly overwhelm experienced fighters such as Giorno, Bruno, and Risotto, whom the former two had been able to fight ever since their childhoods, and he was smart enough to figure out the most absurd of stand abilities such as Metallica’s metal manipulation and Silver Chariot Requiem’s weakness of hitting the magic sun behind Diavolo’s head.

Overhaul

Overhaul is a monster in more than just his strength and ability. He's a brilliant scientist who, after years of research and experimentation, created Quirk Erasing Bullets from Eri's Rewind ability. He did this through destroying and rebuilding her body in several experiments to lock down the pure Rewind ability, then utilize it to shut off Quirk Factors that allow the usage of a Quirk. These weapons were so revolutionary that this shook the Black Market as a whole, and very well would have put the Yakuza on top if not stopped.

In terms of skill, Chisaki has been a Yakuza for decades at this point, and proved his skill in several battles. He's casually killed the top tier fighter Rappa several times in succession, and other successful combatants, like Nighteye, Mirio, and Deku. Nighteye had precognition and decades spent using it, yet died himself against Overhaul, and believed Deku would have done the same. Both Mirio and Deku are incredibly intelligent prodigies in using their Quirk as well as combat moves, yet both were outmatched by Overhaul until Deku resorted to higher power to trump his regeneration. He is also noted to have impressive intelligence and skill by handbooks like the Ultra Analysis.

Overhaul

Plague Mask

Once Overhaul became a villain, he decided to rock his signature plague mask despite having nothing to hide underneath it. Although this mask has no purpose in battle, it’s not only meant to relieve Overhaul of his germophobia and mysophobia but it’s also meant to symbolize his overall efforts of ridding the world of heroes and their “hero disease”, AKA Quirks.

Gloves

Overhaul wears these white rubber gloves in order to prevent his quirk from accidentally activating as well as to relieve him of his aforementioned phobias. He has to remove his gloves in order to use his quirk.

Quirk-Destroying Bullets

As the name suggests, the bullets were made with the purpose of annihilating someone’s quirk if they were to get shot by any of the 5 bullets that Overhaul has on hand. Being made from the DNA of Eri due to the unique nature of her Rewind quirk, it was originally made in the form of a drug but was only effective during battle when it was put into special bullets with needles at the end. There is no delay to the bullets’ effect either since it obliterates the Quirk almost instantly.

Powers and Abilities

Diavolo

Stand User Physiology

Starting off with something simple, stand users seem to gain a buff in power, speed, and durability as non stand users seem to be at the same level as an average human, while stand users seem to gain strength (or are just born stronger). Multiple times have stand users been called superior to non stand users, as well as just normally being able to beat non stand users in a fight with abilities or not.

Muscle Control

For some reason, this is specifically catered to Diavolo, but he can grow in strength and durability with his innate ability to have full control over his body, allowing him to throw out stronger punches?

King Crimson

King Crimson is the stand of the-

And that's….

Stand Physiology

So, what is a stand? Well a stand is the manifestation of your fighting spirit given physical form by the soul of the individual. How they look, act, and what abilities they have are tied to the individual's soul. Stands follow a pretty generous set of conditions, with the most consistent of those being that stands are intangible to those who cannot see stands, but still can be affected by what those stands do. Other rules include that things like Hamon, the Spin, and vampiric abilities are unable to effect stands as well as being steps towards obtaining a stand ability, meaning nothing is able to harm a stand, other than a stand, you cannot overpower one unless you yourself are using a stand, simply put, if i throw a coin at you and you try and punch it, its momentum wouldn’t stop and you would still be dealt the force of the coin being thrown at you itself while the coin remains unaffected in anyway.

Time Erase

King Crimson's main ability, born from Diavolos side of the soul, is Time Erase, with which Diavolo can skip 10 seconds into the future. Please note that it isn’t that simple, as instead of just skipping time to where it would flow 10 seconds, TE actually allows Diavolo to remove fate from a set amount of time, making it so every attack that would have occurred is completely null, only allowing Diavolo to move around free from fate, the only thing is, is that he cannot harm people in this time, but he can set up attacks, by throwing his own blood at someone it isn’t harming them, allowing it to be used to blind someone completely while ignoring its limitations, using the coin statement from before, imagine you throw a coin at me, but knowing that your about to throw it, i skip over the time you threw the coin, meaning you lost the coin, but there was no impact or coin to be thrown in the first place, as by the time you threw or even grabbed the coin, the fate of you doing such had been erased.

Epitaph

Epitaph, is the secondary ability to king crimson, due to diavolos body containing two souls, the stand that developed from Diavolo gained a sub ability, this ability allows Diavolo to look 10 seconds into the future, do note that Epitaph does NOT project this visions but instead shows them directly to Diavolos mind.

Future Projection

Ah yes, the classic one-time use ability every Jojo villain has for some reason. By “lending” the abilities of his sub-stand Epitaph to his opponent, he forces them to see a future projection of themselves, obscuring their vision as they’re dumbfounded by what had just happened. Diavolo used this ability to confuse Bruno after he had hit the person he thought was Diavolo only to realize that he was hitting himself? It’s a strange ability, and it only really works the first time as once the opponent figures out how King Crimson works, it doesn’t function as well as an intimidation tactic.

Overhaul

Overhaul (the quirk)

As one who wishes to destroy and rebuild society, it's only natural Overhaul's Quirk is exactly that. Overhaul (the Quirk, not the guy) lets Chisaki destroy and rebuild matter to do basically anything he wants. With a touch as small as one finger, Overhaul (the guy and the Quirk) can, for example, obliterate your limbs and body with little issue. Conversely, he can and has repaired others from this same effect several times before. The only real limit to this is Chisaki's imagination, and that he needs to touch something, organic or not, for the effect to work. Here are the main ways he has utilised this power in the pursuit of destroying Quirks.

Resistances

  • Physical Damage/Non-Stand Abilities - King Crimson (and by extension virtually all Stands in JoJo) cannot be damaged by non-Stand attacks. On multiple occasions, even attacks from other JoJo power systems like the Spin, Hamon, and vampiric abilities have failed to hurt Stands in any way. In other words, while you can damage the user, as long as your attack is not from another Stand (or something exceptionally comparable, such as a Persona from the Persona games), you cannot harm Stands.

  • Spirit Manipulation/Damage - Additionally, ghosts and other spirits are unable to harm Stand users. For example, Reimi, the spirit of a young girl from part 4, explains that Stands and ghosts are on the same wavelength, but cannot interact with each other. Stands and ghosts (as well as humans and ghosts) can only interact in certain places, such as the alleyway in which Reimi lives. Otherwise, Stands and ghosts are two separate beings that cannot interact with each other.

  • Non-Stand Abilities - In part 4, multiple abilities such as alien physiology are unable to harm Stands, as well as seeing stands, as well as things that use wind movement or other types of non eyesight needed animals are unable to detect stands, further proving that they exist on another wavelength of existence, meaning any ability is incapable of effecting stands as long as the ability itself doesn’t come from a stand user.

Forms

Diavolo

Doppio

When Diavolo was born, he wasn’t born with just one soul, but rather two souls inside him. There was obviously his main personality of Diavolo but there was also another personality in the form of Doppio, a nicer, friendly, and overall much more cowardly version of Diavolo. Doppio is clueless on the fact that he shares the same body on Diavolo, often leading to him to talk to his “boss” who also turns out to be Diavolo.

Overhaul

Before we get into Overhaul’s stronger forms, it’s worth mentioning that these forms should generally be considered non-standard for his arsenal given that he needed his henchmen to be around in order to use them. Since we’re presuming that Overhaul would go into this fight alone, he won’t be getting his forms in the verdict. That being said, we’ll still cover them for the sake of interest. Also you never know how DB will end up handling these forms.

Nemoto Fusion

Once he was damaged by both Deku and Mirio, Overhaul absorbed one of his loyal allies into himself. This transformation granted him multiple new arms from which to use his Quirk on every one, restored his stamina and health, massively boosted his strength, and the various other traits a superform would entail.

Katsukame Fusion

When Nemoto was rewound out of him by Eri, Overhaul resorted to absorbing his other minion, Katsukame, to take her back once and for all. As an even more impressive form thanks to Katsukame's incredible strength, Overhaul now inherits a massive building sized body with even more arms to use his Quirk, and the potential to absorb and shoot out massive sections of buildings

Scaling

Diavolo

Passione

As the leader of the entire Passione gang, Diavolo should reasonably scale and or upscale everyone in it. We also see justification for scaling when he has consistently killed multiple members of Passione like Nero, Abbacchio, Narancia, and even Bruno.

Stardust Crusaders

Diavolo should reasonably scale to the Stardust Crusaders given the fact he has fought and matched Polnareff, almost killing him in a previous fight. Through this we can scale Diavolo to the rest of the Crusader as Polnareff has been shown to keep up with characters like Avdol and even Jotaro.

Miscellaneous

While Diavolo hasn’t interacted with these characters, there should be reason to believe he scales. This is due to the fact he can match characters like Polnareff who in turn can match Jotaro, thus allowing for him to scale to the characters who Jotaro can match and or defeat. In simple terms Character A = Character B, Character B = Character C, Character C >= Character D, thus Character A >= Character D.

Overhaul

Deku

While Overhaul shouldn’t scale to a full 100% Deku he reasonably should scale to lower percentages of Deku. This is due to the fact he was able to take hits from and keep up with an 8% Deku. He likely should be compared to at least a 20% Deku given the fact Chisaki could keep up with stronger characters than an 8% Deku like Mirio, Nighteye, Compress, and Magne.

Class 1A

Class 1A is filled with many young and upcoming hero students that are being teached under the roof of U.A. High, one of the best hero high schools in the world.

Miscellaneous

Due to scaling to Deku and other powerful characters like Mirio, Overhaul would certainly exceed lower feats in MHA, as well as compare to other examples from characters like the League of Villains.

Weaknesses

Diavolo

Diavolo is one cocky bastard who loves to assume he’s won when he hasn’t. He relies on fate and, you know, the power of his stand. This can sometimes lead him into dangerous situations where he already believes he’s won. Also, people can actually figure out how Diavolo’s time skip worked through multiple methods. One is by using blood drops as more appears after the time skip has happened. If an opponent is smart enough, they can potentially figure out what Diavolo is doing.

Overhaul

Despite his might, Overhaul is not without flaw. His Quirk has a slight cool down period between usages (even though this isn't a problem usually) which skilled opponents can certainly take advantage of. Speaking of which, he can only control matter he touches, so he can't just control airborne debris or anything like that. In that vein, destroying his hands would cancel out his Quirk, and is how he lost his powers in canon. While his regeneration is incredibly potent, hitting him fast enough and strong enough before he can fully heal will eventually overtax it and leave him vulnerable.

Before the Verdict

Ghiaccio’s Sea Freezing Feat

So as stated above, Ghiaccio stated that he was capable of freezing a whole sea if he wanted to. This feat would be around 1.04 Megatons of TNT if used, however, there are two major issues with this feat.

Firstly, there’s a very high chance that Ghiaccio was over exaggerating his capabilities in a fit of rage during his fight. Now, a common argument against this is that Ghiaccio doesn’t like hyperboles and metaphors, however, this isn’t entirely true. Ghiaccio only doesn’t like them when they don’t make sense. It would make sense for him to exaggerate his abilities in the context of trying to intimidate Giorno and Mista.

The second point is that there is no inherent timeframe for this feat. It’s very likely this feat wouldn’t take an inherently long time so we will factor in the timeframe for this feat. So the original calc gets 1.04 Megatons of TNT. If we assume he can freeze a sea in a day then we can factor this into the calc.1.04 megatons of TNT is 1040 kilotons of TNT. Divide that by 24 gets you 43.33 Kilotons of TNT per hour. Divide that by 60 gets you 0.722 kilotons or 722 tons of TNT per minute. 722 divided by another 60 is around 12 Tons of TNT. So assuming that Ghiaccio actually can freeze a sea in a day, it would only be 12 Tons of TNT per second which would be the actual value Ghiaccio should scale to if valid.

So yeah, this feat likely isn’t valid and was Ghiaccio over exaggerating. However, if this feat was valid then the likelihood the calc is lower due to the timeframe issue mentioned would be incredibly high, making the feat relative to the other feats within the series.

Where does Overhaul scale?

In regards to Overhaul scaling, the main example would be his fighting Deku. In this regard, he fought his 8%, then has means to fight his 20%, and eventually lost to Full Cowling 100% Deku. Some might be curious then on why we would scale him to Deku's punch with All Might in Two Heroes, which gets 87.1 Megatons of TNT each. Essentially, it does make sense for him to be around this level if not higher given how the series progressed.

Two Heroes takes place around Chapter 39-40 of the Manga, while Overhaul fought Deku in Chapters 156 - 159. In that time period was the forest training arc, which vastly boosted the powers of all of 1A, including Deku, meaning he would naturally be stronger than when he teamed up with All Might. What's more, during that fight, both parties were pretty exhausted all things considered. In regards to Overhaul's fight with Deku, this was also Full Cowling, as opposed to just a standard 100%, who was getting all his wounds healed at the same time by Eri, making him the definition of peak condition.

Essentially, this is what this means scaling wise

Two Heroes 100% Deku while tired = 87.1 Megatons

Overhaul battle Full Cowling 100% Deku at peak condition = logically much higher than that

From there we can simply backscale Overhaul from this, as Deku likely wouldn't have won in higher percentages besides 100%. This does make sense scaling wise as well, given Deku certainly scales to Todoroki casually pulling off a 10 - 49 megaton feat when making his Ice Wall, which itself was before the training arc, where he got a lot stronger as well. TLDR: Overhaul should somewhat scale to Two Heroes Deku by virtue of him getting far stronger since and having better conditions on top of that.

What counts as a “quirk”?

As elaborated on in the Overhaul arc, Quirks are natural evolutions in humans with several potential applications, like Emitter for example. These have “Quirk Factors” in one's body that allow these abilities to activate, and they can be blocked by Eraserhead or shut off by their Quirk Erasing Bullets. That being said, there is one question that comes to mind with this matchup specifically. Could Diavolo’s stand count as a quirk?

If Overhaul were to land a quirk-erasing bullet on Diavolo, would King Crimson end up being erased as a result? Well the short answer is no. The long answer is that the quirk-erasing functions of the bullets would practically have no effect on someone like Diavolo. Stands are regarded as “the physical manifestation of your fighting spirit” and they act very differently compared to quirks from MHA. You see, the way that Quirk Erasing Bullets erase quirks is by deactivating the genetic factor that activates the quirks within humans. While certain Jojo stands, such as King Crimson, have been shown to activate through blood contact with special stand arrows, the stand itself isn’t tied to the biological functions of the associated stand user. Instead the stand is tied to the soul of the stand user, activating whenever the stand user feels the need to take part in battle. Quirk-Erasing Bullets have never shown to affect any hero or villain down to their very soul, thus rendering them useless in a fight against a Quirkless person. Shooting the stand itself would obviously have no effect either since any attack that isn’t from another stand would either pass through or be nullified by the stand’s physiology.

Fight Script

Saul’s scripts now include a 7-8 page script that’ll show you what a fight between these two combatants could look like. Warning, there are spoilers for who wins.

Read here.

(This script is supposed to mimic an actual episode in terms of length. 1. I wanted to try something like that. 2. I’m overworked lol)

Verdict

Stats

Concerning stats for these two crime bosses, both hold significant edges. Starting off with speed, it's quite obvious Diavolo is a lot faster. Due to scaling past most other stands and to Silver Chariot, Diavolo can match and exceed the latter's infamous light slash, which gets hundreds of times faster than light. Overhaul can comfortably match massively hypersonic feats and even upscale past the light timers of Vigilantes, but he'd still be a good deal slower. This may seem like an important edge for Diavolo, but despite his speed, he can't exactly utilise it. Let's talk about strength and durability.

On Diavolo's end, he once again is comparable and superior to many of the world's strongest stands, like Jolyne with her up to a kiloton meteor punch, or Red Hot Chilli Peppers sucking up energy that could get as high as 427 kilotons of TNT. You could push this envelope even more through highballing Ghiaccio “freezing a sea” which could get up to a megaton of TNT. All of this is insanely impressive, but is ultimately in vain.

Moving to Overhaul, he was a comfortable match for Deku, and took multiple hits from both him and Mirio. Both of them are pretty visibly above most of Class 1A and at the least comparable to their high-tiers, similar to how Diavolo is to other Jojo's characters. This includes powerhouses like Bakugo and Todoroki, who can pull off feats nearing 500 kilotons while weakened and tired from battle. Shoto even created a massive glacier during the Sports Festival with little effort, which lands between 10 to 49 Megatons of TNT. Keep in mind all of this is before the training arc where they largely boosted their potential, which itself was before Deku fought Overhaul, meaning Chisaki himself majorly upscales all of this as well in both strength and durability. To put it bluntly, the highest end of Red Hot Chilli Peppers feat can only match weakened showings of both Bakugo and Todoroki, which were before massive training boosts that Overhaul would benefit from. Even if you were to take the unreliable high-end of Ghiaccio's sea freeze, Overhaul would still be at least 10 times stronger from just the low-end of Todoroki's feat, which itself is a number he largely upscales from.

Even if you were to push these feats or others such as Dio's eyebeams, or otherwise even higher to claim Diavolo can match these showings of power (they either aren't scalable or are just wrong) Overhaul would get similar leniency. Whether it be through backscaling to Deku's 80 megaton punch during Two Heroes, or potentially All Might's 700 megaton punch due to Deku keeping up with this weakened version, which created a storm with his blows at another point, all arguments in the debate lead to the same result. Overhaul simply has far more strength and durability than Diavolo can hope to match, so his higher speed won't mean much unless he has abilities to capitalise on.

Arsenal and Abilities

As for abilities, this is where things get a little more interesting. On Diavolo's side, King Crimson is an invisible, practically indestructible spirit that you can't harm or see without similar abilities. Overhaul doesn't have a spiritual ally or abilities to see these kinds of foes, so he can't actually harm King Crimson, which gives Diavolo a sizable advantage. Moving to Crimson's powers, his Time Erase ability allows Diavolo to skip ahead 10 seconds in time, allowing him to avoid attacks as well as set them up as well. Couple that with Epitaph, which can allow him to see the future, and Overhaul will have an incredibly hard time actually hitting Diavolo, especially given his large speed advantage. However, while this may give him incredible defence, it does practically nothing for his offence.

Moving on to Overhaul (the guy, not the Quirk), let's actually talk about Overhaul (the Quirk, not the guy). It allows Kai to tear apart and restructure matter to do basically anything he wants, like form an endless army of spikes or splatter your body into paste. When applied to Diavolo, this is extremely detrimental, as Overhaul (the Quirk and the Guy…okay, last of that joke) only needs one hit to finish him off, even disregarding his strength advantage. Overhaul's powers also enable him to cover the battlefield in spikes given he can control matter in general, and use several area of effect moves to force Diavolo away if he ever gets too close, or to skewer him before he can escape. In his own defensive terms, Overhaul can use his Quirk to tear apart and restore his own body, healing any damage or stamina taken, with no real limit in terms of energy supply. This means Diavolo can't actually hurt, let alone kill Overhaul in any permanent way. While Deku was able to outpace his regeneration with a serious speed advantage, this heavily involved power as well, and we've already established Diavolo is much, much weaker. This means Overhaul has an incredibly potent wall of defence, and an equally impressive spear of offence that Diavolo can't really work around, or avoid given other tertiary matters.

Tertiary Factors

Moving to things like skill and experience, both are relatively even. They have decades of experience in crime, have fought dozens of esoteric foes, and are masters of their environment. However, Overhaul is most assuredly smarter, and pairing this with his environmental control means Diavolo can not evade him forever. While he can see the future to help avoid attacks, so could Nighteye, and he was eventually killed all the same. King Crimson’s Time Erase may help him avoid attacks for the time being, but it can't help him attack in any way that does effective damage. What's more, its method of disappearing and reappearing in a certain amount of seconds is something Overhaul is certainly capable of picking up on, and reacting accordingly to rain attacks around the area when the time goes up. In this way, it's even worse, as while Diavolo may be much faster in reaction and attack speed, he's sorely lacking in movement speed.

Essentially, Diavolo may be able to block an attack via faster reactions, but he isn't capable of moving out of the way in time to avoid the massive AOE Overhaul can utilise. This is the very same in Jojo's as well, as movement speed and reaction speed are consistently differentiated between, and even characters like Kars have nowhere near the movement speed to evade something like this. Diavolo can play keep-away for a time, but he simply lacks methods to actually take down Overhaul, whose higher stats and regeneration, let alone other abilities, make it all but impossible to escape.

Diavolo may be able to evade Overhaul for a while, but all his powers really do is prolong the inevitable

Summary

Diavolo

“I’ve accepted this test to stand victorious against my past. A person grows once they are able to defeat their weaker self.”

Advantages:

  • Faster.

  • Epitaph and King Crimson's time erasure can let Diavolo dodge certain attacks…….

  • King Crimson cannot be seen nor hurt by Overhaul.

  • Quirk destroying bullets would have no effect on him or his stand.

  • Gave us Doppio.

  • Has probably the hardest AMV edit ever.

Equal:

  • Experience.

  • Intelligence.

  • Being voiced by Glamrock Freddy.

Disadvantages:

  • Weaker.

  • Less durable.

  • …although this wouldn’t let him dodge forever, especially taking his movement speed into account.

  • Cannot permanently put Overhaul down thanks to his healing.

  • Has no direct counter to Overhaul’s bio manipulation.

  • Far less AOE and range.

  • Less versatile

  • Not Doppio.

  • I didn’t include a “haha Diavolo dies so it’s canon.” cause that’s annoying. (It's funny) ((No it’s not)) (Yes.)

Overhaul

“A goal with no plan is called a delusion. You need a plan in order to achieve your goal. And I have a plan.”

Advantages:

  • Stronger and more durable.

  • Healing prevents any significant damage from taking place and Diavolo doesn't have the power to overtax it.

  • Oneshots with his quirk.

  • Can either land a lucky hit or tire Diavolo out....

  • Better AOE and range.

  • More versatile.

  • Gave us Eri.

  • Invented plague doctors.

Equal:

  • Experience.

  • Intelligence.

  • Being voiced by Glamrock Freddy.

Disadvantages:

  • …Has no direct counter to Epitaph and King Crimson's dodging.

  • Far slower than Diavolo

  • Has no real way of interacting with King Crimson

  • Quirkless bum. (Deku reference?)

  • Has shit fan base (seriously, what the FU-)

Final Vote

Team Diavolo: [2] (Kars, Toxin)

Team Overhaul: [7] (Saul, Mira, therealgnomechompski, Round 1 Fight, Pasbros, Sato K, 𝓐𝓼𝓾𝓻𝓪)

Winner
